7th April, 1931.
Some time in November last, we received your letter
informing us of the piracy case on the Norwegian ship HIŘUNIO
in which one of the crew was wounded by the pirates, and two
compradores Zong shiu Hing and Chan Houng Nigam were kidnapped
together with a quantity of cargo valued at about $5,000.00.
looted and that you asked for our co-operation in the matter
for this we deapatohed a letter to the Admiral of our No.4
Fleet.
A reply has just been received from our No.é Flect stating
that on receipt of our letter, instructions huë at once been
given to the Special Squads in Bias Bay and, ing Hoi Day as well
as Councillor Tsoi 2ng Fai who was specially detailed there to
trace the where-abouts of the pirates and the kidnapped persons.
A report has been received from Councillor Tsol Tăng Fai which
reads as follows
Acting upon information that the two kidnapped compradores
of the F.5. HIKUMO were concealed in the valley in Leung Fa
Wai Yeung District, we despatched our troops to proceed to the
mentioned place on 26,12.30, but on our arrival we found that the
pirates had moved away. On secount of the occurrence of the
piracy case on d.5. lisin Mâng we had to divide our troops into
several squads and sent them to various places to trace the
piratea. Plain clothes datectives were also sent out to make
enquiries about their movements and on the 14.12.30 we received
information that the pirates had removed their captives to the
valley opposite the Lad Kwong Leng village so on the morning of
the 15th, we detailed the chief of No.2 Brigade named Chan H in Y
with his troops to proceed to the valley in order to round
them up, but the pirates dared to offer resistence and a battle
between the pirates and the soldiers lasted for half an hour
